The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college embodies the spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, and nation-building. As a centrally-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, the NSS aims to involve college students in meaningful service to society and to foster the overall development of their personality through community involvement. Our college, situated in a rural setting, uses this platform to connect students with real-world rural issues, thus creating socially conscious and responsible citizens.
Objectives:
· To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among students.
· To encourage community engagement through service-oriented activities.
· To provide hands-on experience in addressing rural and urban challenges.
· To foster leadership qualities and democratic values.
Regular Activities:
· Awareness Campaigns: Health, sanitation, anti-plastic drives, gender equality, and voter awareness.
· Community Outreach: Surveys, support for underprivileged families, helping elderly and differently-abled, and educational support in nearby schools.
· Cleanliness & Environment: Clean campus initiatives, Swachh Bharat drives, tree plantation, and water conservation efforts.
· Health Camps: Blood donation drives, eye check-up camps, and health awareness programmes in collaboration with PHCs.
· National Days Observance: Celebrations and events on Republic Day, Independence Day, NSS Day, and Gandhi Jayanti.
Special Camp (7-Day Annual Camp):
Held in a nearby adopted village, the camp focuses on rural development, awareness building, and intensive community service through:
· Village sanitation and cleanliness campaigns
· Health & hygiene awareness drives
· Skill development and vocational workshops
· Cultural and educational activities
Achievements:
· Received "Best NSS Programme Officer" Award in 2022.
· Successfully adopted 10 villages for community development initiatives.
· Organized multiple mega health and awareness camps with strong community participation.
· Volunteers have received district and university-level recognition for exemplary service.
· Active participation in State NSS Youth Festivals, Mega Camps, and Pre-RD Camps.
