The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of the college is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and progressive environment for the holistic development of women students and staff. Established with a vision to promote gender equality and women’s rights, the cell serves as a platform for education, empowerment, and support. The WEC plays a transformative role by raising awareness on gender issues, building leadership among girl students, and equipping them with life skills and confidence to face challenges in both academic and social spheres.
Objectives:
· To promote gender sensitivity and women’s empowerment on campus and in the community.
· To organize awareness programs on women's rights, safety, health, and legal literacy.
· To provide a forum for female students and staff to express concerns and seek support.
· To enhance the self-esteem, confidence, and leadership potential of girl students.
· To encourage participation in decision-making, skill-building, and entrepreneurship.
Key Functions and Activities:
· Awareness Programs: Workshops, seminars, and guest lectures on gender equality, legal rights, sexual harassment, domestic violence, and mental health.
· Self-Defence Training: Collaborations with local police or NGOs for basic martial arts and safety awareness.
· Health & Hygiene Camps: Sessions on menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and reproductive health in association with health departments.
· Celebration of Women’s Day: Cultural events, talks by successful women professionals, and student competitions.
· Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Training: Sessions on tailoring, handicrafts, digital literacy, and financial independence.
Achievements:
· Students trained in self-defence techniques and digital literacy.
· Collaborated with government departments and NGOs for health and legal support camps.
· Created a gender-sensitive campus environment through consistent sensitization
