The Consumer Club of the college is an initiative aimed at spreading awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities among students and the surrounding rural community. The club serves as a dynamic platform for students to become responsible and informed consumers. It educates the youth and public about consumer protection laws, ethical consumption, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
Objectives:
· To create awareness among students about consumer rights and duties.
· To educate the public about the Consumer Protection Act and legal remedies.
· To instil ethical values and responsibility in consumption practices.
· To enable students to become active promoters of consumer rights in society.
· To bridge the information gap between rural consumers and legal/market systems.
Major Activities:
· Awareness Campaigns: Rallies, street plays, and poster exhibitions on consumer rights and unfair trade practices.
· Workshops & Seminars: Sessions on the Consumer Protection Act, e-commerce safety, food safety, and misleading advertisements.
· Observation of National Consumer Day (December 24): Thematic events, debates, quiz competitions, and guest lectures.
· Grievance Awareness Drives: Educating students and villagers on how to file complaints through Consumer Help lines and Forums.
· Village Outreach Programs: Conducting sessions in nearby rural areas to educate local people about MRP rules, expiry dates, and consumer courts.
